I have lived along the Erie Railroad all of my life. My home town used to be on the Bergen County Line. Now I live within a stones throw of the NJ&NYRR, now New Jersey Transit's Pascack Valley Line. I had always collected Erie items, but now that I have a new "home line" I have acquired a few items specific to the NJ&NY. Here is a 1908 timetable from the line. If you compare it to today's NJT schedule http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/rail/upcoming/R0010.pdf, you can have a nice comparison over a 110 year span. Besides the changes in fares, you will notice that the line went farther than it does today and had 2 long gone branches. In the current operations, Hoboken - Spring Valley, NY, you will see that several stations no longer even exist. As the automobile came into use and people could travel to stations, a station wasn't needed every 1/2 mile or so. It is fun to step back into the past.
