Just realized the other day (when looking for something else in a utensil drawer) that I've actually got a handful of these things laying around here too, along with the rest of my kitchen ephemera. Here are (probably?) the oldest of the bunch, all looking to have been made from plated steel. (and now showing various amounts of wear to said plating, thus I'm not certain I'd actually wanna *use* any of them to prepare food anymore, but they're still fun aren't they??) :-)

The 4-sided rectangular/tapered one is a (still) common basic design, this example only having the word "BROMCO" embossed at the top of one side. It stands about 9" tall total. Next to it is a "RAPID SLAW and VEGETABLE CUTTER", made by "BLUFFTON SLAW CUTTER CO. BLUFFTON O.", their logo/info stamped (lightly...hard to see in pics) at its top, including instructions to "HOLD FINGERS SO AS NOT TO COME IN CONTACT WITH KNIVES. WHEN SLICING SMALL ARTICLES PRESS DOWN WITH PALM OF HAND." [no doubt good advice that, for any of these...?] It is about 13" long including its heavy wire handle. At the bottom is a set of three with differing sized cutters, each is (only) stamped "SUPER" and "PATENTED" and have a curved shape to their top/bottom edges. They are also about 9" long.

I saw a tv excerpt the other day where they used a number of these and made some industrial lamps out of them. Of course they were wonderful as the light is broken up by the consecutive holes in a most becoming way.

These are wonderful kitchen tools... they don't make them like they used too!
A family member of mine has some of these old graters and after decades of use, they are still sharp as ever!
