Scored from the Re-Store -- I looked at but didn't actually buy it when I stopped by there the other day then couldn't get it out of my mind, so made another trip over there today to snatch it up and bring it home. ;-) Pictured here sitting on the floor upside down, it has a too-cool kinda 'flying saucer/space-age' shape to its yellow painted aluminum base/bezel, which measures just over 13" across. Its milk glass globe is about 8" round, and has molded 'screw threads' around its neck which attach it to the part which actually holds the light bulb socket and is intended to actually fasten to the wiring box in the ceiling.

Its Underwriter's Laboratories label bears the only clue to its manufacturer, "EJS LIGHTING CORP". Preliminary Googling suggests they were (are?) a CA firm which made ALL SORTS of other terrific mid-century-modern light fixtures -- though I haven't found any other exact examples of this style (yet?) to give it a more exact date. [HELP, all y'all other MCM experts out there??!]

My plan is to install/use it as the kitchen light in my (ca. 1954) home, to replace a contemporary 'ceiling fan fixture' which came with the house. It will match/accent my (worn, but original) pastel yellow tile countertops FABULOUSLY, I think?!! <LOL>

EDIT -- I have just added a fresh photo to (finally?) show this fixture installed in its new spot on my kitchen ceiling -- thanks to an unexpected 'afternoon off work' courtesy of the local power company, which I celebrated by dragging out the ladder/etc to make the change. ;-) Needless to say (?) I am more than pleased with the result -- I absolutely LOVE its funky look up there, SO much moreso than the not unattractive but also not the slightest bit interesting fan it replaced. (which itself will get moved to a bedroom, substituting for another which truly *does* need to be thrown in the trash...)

My slightly belated thanks SO MUCH to Trey, fortapache, racer4four,
TassieDevil, GeodeGem, & gargoylecollector for your <likes> and <loves>!!!

I've just added an EDIT for a new photo, having finally found the opportunity today to put it up on the ceiling where it belongs. :-) (not that it didn't look cool sitting on a table upside down too, but...)
