I thought I would post this brooch that I love and wear often, but really know nothing about! It has beautiful lace work detailing in a heart shape and a large red faceted rhinestone in the centre, with some smaller circular faceted rhinestones around the edges. It has no markings on the back and I really have no idea of it's age either. I've only been collecting costume pieces for a few years, having been given some from my late grandmother, so forgive me if I don't use the correct terms in describing the pieces! I have been choosing pieces based solely on whether I love it and would like to wear it. I get asked a lot about this brooch and where it's from, so it would be great if anyone has any ideas about it? Thank you for looking :)

This is an awesome beauty Kerri, I love everything about it - the deep red color stones, the filigree, & lovely heart shape. The antique gold & style looks quite vintage

Thank you so much Eileen and Ken for giving me some clues as to its Czech heritage, and also for your lovely comments :) It was the lovely detailing and deep red colour that made me love it straight away!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments Jenni :) It's the only piece I own that has red colour stones so it gets worn quite often. Do you also wear your brooches or are they for collecting/display only?

Thank you so much for the love everyone - Tigra, nutsabotas6, aura, valentino97, VintageMisc, Newfld, Ms.CrystalShip, Hel1 & fortapache. It's much appreciated :D

I've always loved jewelry esp. brooches, and try to dress sweaters, tops & coats with them as often as possible esp. holidays & special occasions - I promise you, if I can wrangle one more trip to Hawaii will wear bling every nite!

Thank you for answering Eileen. I enjoy wearing my brooches too, but a friend of mine keeps hers locked away and collects only for the potential value of them in the future. She chastises me for wearing mine because they may 'get damaged'. I love them too much to keep them locked away, and they're always good conversation starters too :)

When I first saw this nobody had commented yet. Just to reassure myself that your beautiful brooch was Czech, I went to Ruby Lane and searched Czech brooches. nearly an hour and a half later, I had about 7 of them in my cart. They're just so well made, with all kinds of beautiful coloured stones, and lovely designs.

Your brooch is really, really gorgeous.

Your comment made me laugh out loud Jenni :D
Is a Hawaii trip needed before you can break officially out your 'bling' & is NY in winter not a city for 'bling' brooches, just regular ones?! So glad to hear that you wear your brooches as often as you can too :)

Thank you so much for your kind comment Gillian :)
Does that mean you are thinking of buying a Czech brooch now also?
They really are such lovely designs, I had a look through lots of them also, when I was told this brooch was a Czech piece.
I have a love/hate relationship with Ruby Lane - I love so many things on there, but hate that I want to buy them all but can't afford too :(

I love Czech brooches too Kerri and have worn all the jewellery I have bought over the years....they are not an investment, they are to wear otherwise I wouldn't buy them:-)

Do you have Czech brooches also? So glad to hear that you wear all your beautiful pieces :) I would definitely stop you on the street if I saw you wearing one of your Greyhound pieces!
    17. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 6 years ago
Yes, I will see if I can rustle up a couple today and post:-)
    18. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 6 years ago
Sorry Kerri, I know they are here somewhere lol. I searched through boxes and boxes yesterday and still didn't find them!
When we moved I lost a lot of cabinet space so can't display as much as I used to, so lots have been relegated to boxes unfortunately! Next time I buy a czech brooch I will be sure to post it right away:-)

DanteDreaming - I collect Czech filigree and believe this to be Art Deco 1930s. I would love to add it to my collection but it seems that you're very fond of it!
    23. PhilDMorris PhilDMorris, 6 years ago
This may date to the 1950's also as if in the deco period they would have used real gold. The filigree can be touched up easily as they sell gold rub on or paste in a tube and you can apply easily with a finger. Its a very beautiful piece, love anything with filigree !~
