Kerry Mills was known s the "Cakewalk King " fpr his ragtime melodies--One thing I just notices on this cover lowest left". The title page designed and registered 1899 by F,A, Mills." That is Kerry himself. All these years I didn't know he was an artist too.

I think I've heard that word only once before in my life.
I never heard it befor I got this sheet. I think for the most part it isn't used . Passe. I will be using it from now on I think. It kind of sticks in mind. Pretty insulting tho.
By the way, Spirit Bear, thanks for being the only looker for sheet music here. Seems like this collectible has lost all interest, Sales are down on eBay too. I am wondering why. Of course being paper, and always in a state of condition decline if never in poly bagged or cared for, and stored incorrectly in an upright position, maybe money is not being spent on it.--I do notice a switch from cover art collectors to more actual increase in buyers for the musical content. Historical category, rags jazz and blues, ET Paull rarities or hard to finds, and big events, Expos Fairs and newsworthy and more still are still selling For collectors with big money invested over the years in less important categories--- well it looks a little bleak, and for more reasons than I mention. I guess I need to write some artices in some of the magazines I used to submit to--are stir up some activity for sheet music. I am the rah-rah girl! I better get back to work and save the collectible!

Moon walk is a backward slide, Cakewalk is a back leaning,high kicking forward prance. I just know you are proficient at both!
Give it time, Post-Card Collector. As more people see it, they'll view it. I myself only click on that which catches my eye. The first photo dictates whether I'll click on the post or not.
As for the market, it will naturally rise and fall. There's a season for everything. I will always like paper-- though mainly postcards, photochromes and engravings, and letters.
With sheet-music, there are multiple identical copies of most major runs. This leads to a greater number of identical examples still extant. The less copies, the more interesting subject-matter, the person it relates to (well-known or 'important' people), condition, and age all play a part in value. I've picked up sheet-music only for the cover-art.
And anyway, if you collect it to keep, you should be glad its value falls-- it means you get more of that which you like, for a better price. I foresee the antique American bottle market as bottoming out in 20 years. Then I can afford examples I might never otherwise obtain. Good for me. Bad for those that sell. LOL.
You are right on!! Prices have lowered and I am getting wonderful sheets I always wanted for,== peanuts. I try to sell them for what I know they are worth and bidders are a no show, Most of the "old guard" of collectors are passed away, and the newer have limited knowledge of what is hard to find and what is common. That takes years to learn. I have reduced prices and put pn commoner sheets, Maybe I can make a buck, Everything you said is true, and thanks for reminding me and inspiring me reason and re-think,.
The bottom line for any collectible is--buy what you love, for yourself, and you'll never go wrong.I have always bought and sold. Now like a kid in a candy store..... yahoo- I am having a lot of fun and satisfaction for way less$$ AS you point out--------that is a good thing!
