This 3 1-2"L cockatoo bird brooch by Alice Caviness has a goldtone setting with a multitude of earthy pearlized enamel colors, curvy pattern shapes, white rhinestones & root beer navettes.
My wildlife posts today are in anticipation of Brazil's Carnaval holiday in a couple wks - the animal floats in the parades on TV are spectacular!

This Caviness cockatoo was a really lucky find for me, reasonable also which was a surprise due to the large size and detail. Most of her intricate pieces like this were in prewar sterling, and are a fortune now. I think I have seen the owl, not sure about the zebra but good luck

I love our Australian birds and am right now watching a king parrot family fighting in my feeder. Parrots are the best: beautiful, clever, cheeky, boundless personality!

Your kind compliments about my Caviness cockatoo are really great Karen, thank you. She began designing jewelry from the'40s thru late 60s I believe, then her company continued several yrs after, and I esp love her bold animal figures. It's wonderful you have a bird feeder and can watch all these exotic tropicals in Aus.,that lovely warm weather is what they thrive on
