A remake of an old style ornate telephone. My mother had this and it still works. It's fun to hear the grandchildren talk about this and play with it. It's still a beautiful part of history as even a remake shows us how far we have come.

These were made ca. 1970's-80's and became popular 'decorator items', during/after the same time period when the USA telephone utility industry was being officially "de-regulated" -- such that individual telephone sets (of whatever shape/style/sort) were no longer required to be the (rented) "property" of the Telco itself. Many other widely varying 'new styles' of telephone sets emerged during the same short time frame, the vast majority were built with otherwise standard internal parts within whatever variety of case.

[and then someone else went off and invented the "cell phone"...now look where *that's* taken us all... <groan>]

Thank You AnythingObscure, And I agree on cell phones as I don't have one and it drives my family crazy.

      Too cool!
I purchased one this week, not this nice but same style.
I’m planning to hook it up for when my granddaughters are in trouble and I’ve taken their cells.....I can already feel their love....lol.
