My sister ow ed Quilts of America in New York. She passed away in 1991 and I was given this. I know it was antique then and is now 27 years older. I don’t know anything about it but since it’s a legacy I’m interested. I think one side is wool.

Can anyone enlighten me on the history of this?

This is a crazy quilt with hand stitched feather stitching around irregular shape pieces of scrap material . Often found with some small patches of velvet . Very nice and took a lot of work to make unlike doing it today with all the short cuts . Yours is not Victorian but the idea was started in that era . I would guess yours to be from around 40's but without seeing it and the material better hard to tell exact time period . You can read about them on link I sent :-) Welcome to CW

Thank you both for your comments. I think the busy side is wool fabric, it’s heavy.
