    Hello everyone!!!
This is my antique Harrison Cady Peter Rabbit (or Peter Cottontail to some folks) bank. He's nearly 100 years old and was made sometime around the 1920's. Harrison Cady wrote and illustrated a Peter Rabbit comic strip in the 1920's and this bank is a depiction of the Peter Rabbit he drew in his comic strip.

He's still in pretty nice condition and retains most of his original paint. There is no stopper in the bottom, so the only way to retrieve your money would be to break this fellow into pieces. Due to the absence of a stopper, few have survived. So, he is extremely rare!! I've never seen another one like him in all of my years of collecting.

He's made of a composite material and very light weight. He measures 8 1/2" tall and 4 1/2" wide. He was also available in a cast iron doorstop version, a door knocker and even a cast iron statue that were painted exactly like this one. Those too are extremely rare to find. I own two of the doorstop versions of this bank, one is porcelain enamel coated and the other is painted. No one has ever been able to tell who the maker of this bank or the doorstop version was. In case you missed my Harrison Cady Peter Rabbit doorstops, here are the links to those.

Grandpa Rabbit is quite handsome Scott, a true antique, he appears well loved over the years. Clever design putting the coin slot at base of his neck

Thanks Ken!! He is in nice condition, but I would've took him even if he wasn't. These are extremely hard to come by.

      Thanks Jenni!!
He's indeed handsome. For him to have survived this long without someone breaking him, he had to be well loved. But, I can assure you that he'll be well loved here as well. The coin slot was a clever design. But, if they'd have only put a replaceable stopper in the bottom, more of these would still be around today.

Thanks fortapache!!! I hope to be able to find, and afford, the cast iron version of this fellow one day. Unfortunately, all that I've ever seen are priced at $$$$

Thank you Judy!! He sits right on the top shelf of an old antique china cabinet to keep him from getting broken and from the dust.
