Purchased this some time ago, and am trying to figure out the period and what it actually is. Found something on Worthpoint, that sounds very close to what I have, but mine is narrower by 3 inches. Worthpoint had it described as "ORNATE Radio & Speaker STAND ART DECO - ART NOUVEAU - circa 1915 -1930. Removable bottom metal shelf has affixed decal label which states:ROBERT FINDLAY MFG. CO. INC. METAL PRODUCTS - NEW YORK - BROOKLYN. METAL GOODS - LAMPS FIXTURES - TABLES - SMOKING STANDS". Mine is 28 1/2" tall, by 28" wide, by 8" deep. Weighs about 20 lbs. All metal is magnetic, except for the ornate brass pieces in the top corners.

Since mine is narrower, do you think it has a different purpose?

    Thanks

I own the same table. The only difference is that mine is 28.5 in tall, 8 in depth, but is only 14 inches wide. I have been searching for years, once every 6 weeks or so, trying to find this table. I was shocked to finally find it!!!! I have a book on Robert Findlay Ironworks (originally in Georgia). I have not read the book yet, but there are no pictures of what he produced. I am not selling my table, as it is my favorite antique that has been passed down to me. My grandmother owned it; they lived in Charlottesville, Va. I am not sure if this is appropriate or not, do you mind telling me what you paid for it? I have always been curious and am considering hiring an appraiser to satisfy my curiosity. I will let you know if I find anything else about this table; I am obsessed with this one item.

My Mom remembers my grandmother calling this table a telephone table. If you would like I could send you dates of when he lived and when his founderies were open. I will start to read the book now and will give you any pertinent information.

Not correct information, so no reason to apologize.

The rules state: "While an item’s value can certainly be a part of the conversation, Show & Tell is mostly a forum for communicating with other users to learn more about the pieces you own."

I can't believe you have a wider version of the same table. How nice to have someone to glean info from possibly. I paid $85 for it and unfortunately the wood top blew of my flatbed trailer after an antique show. I would to know any more info you can find on it. My email is plntnerd@gmail.com. I just got back from 'thrifting and antiquing' in Tennessee. Amazing pieces and often amazing prices! Check out my Art Deco Standing Brass Ashtray Stand with Gazelle shaped handle. I'm just getting ready to add it.
