I bought this at the same time as the hedghog. I think the sparkly stones are rhinestones . Anyone have any idea about its age please?

Hi nutsabotas6 thanks so much for the info - much appreciated !

Under the first rhinestone on the right hand side, on top of a twig like piece, are some initials I think, but too small to read.

The stones are very nice indeed, which almost look like Agate.

Gillian thanks so much I’ll have a close look and update you. I’d never noticed - brilliant observation. Thanks also for your comments and to nutsabotas6 for the suggestion of the lettering.

Most 1970's items are already considered vintage but depends on who is on the computer !~

Thanks for the comment PhilDMorris I’m always confused about exactly what constitutes vintage . On inspection this brooch is stamped ART - any ideas as to wha this stands for greatly appreciated!

Hi nutsabotas6 you’re a star! Thanks so much I’m looking forward to having a minute to read about Arthur Pepper Jewelry. So kind of you to share your knowledge and thanks again.

      Warning:

This post is likely to induce a jewelry purchase of an Arthur Pepper brooch. (Blame it entirely on Ken)

Looking through 3 or 4 pages of ART jewelery on a site I am particularly fond of, some of his pieces are VERY expensive. The piece I just bought was not, but maybe I got lucky.

Looking again at your brooch Elaine, I think the larger Agate type stones may be Lucite. Only because they don't sparkle like a Rhinestone would, and I've never seen a Rhinestone with that type of striation? (I certainly haven't seen all the Rhinestones there are in the world) What do you think. If they are Lucite it doesn't detract at all from your piece which I think is gorgeous. I think it's earlier than the 70's though.

      Hi Gillian
Thanks for sharing your expertise with me. To be honest I’m so new to collecting costume jewellery that I wouldn’t know rhinestones from lucite ! I just love the brooch and I like to wear the things I’ve purchased so I love it anyway!
I’ll do some research and see if I can glean anything but again, to be honest, I’ve learned more from this site than anywhere else on the interweb.
      Thanks again

Thanks for the love Newfld and your kind comments. I’d forgotten I had it until PhilDMorris resurrected it .
