The clocks are my favorite mantle clocks. They are French in origin and are massive in size and weight.

Picture 1 Combat de cerfs, This clock is a pre art deco clock. The case is yellow marble with brass panels on each side of the face. The sculpture on top is by Thomas F. Cartier he dates about 1917.

    Thomas Francois Cartier
(1879 -1943) was born in Marseilles, France on February 21st 1879.
Cartier studied under Georges Gardet and specialized in animal sculpture. He created many models of Lions
and other big cats and dogs especially hunting dogs. His sculptures were also used in clocks and other decorative pieces. Many were cast in white metal as well as bronze.

Cartier started exhibiting his works at the Salon in 1904, continuing throughout his life. He won an Honorable Mention in the Salon of 1908 and a Gold Medal in 1927. Very little has
been written about the life and works of this later period Animalier sculptor except for the listing of his exhibits.

Picture 2. Thomas Cartier signature on top sculpture.

Picture 3 Sisyphus and the stone, the designer is unknown, the stone clock is Sabino glass and is a light, I have a red, green, and blue C-7 leds behind the glass which gives it the appearance of a fiery opal. He dates from about 1933.

Picture 3 Is the archer, he has a bone or Ivory bow with multi colored onyx and marble he dates from about 1931.

      Exceptional pieces Rob.
As a clock, the first one is amazing. The yellow marble and black inlays, the shape, the face, the bucks; perfect.
The Sisyphus sculpture is art. I can only look in amazement and pleasure.
I love how you have lit the archer. Shows it off to perfection.
