Even though they're not heavy duty restaurant-grade china, I still simply could not resist grabbing these four wildly pink/red decorated white melamine plates at a junk store recently, in exchange for every bit of 75 cents. ;-) :-) Based on the amount of 'residual grease' which came along with 'em (which thankfully my dishwasher is mostly dealing with) I'm assuming they came from some commercial foodservice environment, but don't know that for sure. [what I *do* know is that I wouldn't wanna eat a meal served on them 'the way they were', whether from a restaurant, or just (elderly and mostly blind, bless her heart) grandma's house...?? <uggghhh><gack><hurl>]

The smaller pair are about 6" x 8", the larger about 9" x 12". They are most certainly not anything too terribly old in any way to speak of, though their molded maker's marks are different. Cursory online searching seems to suggest their pattern is still currently produced, being named "Longevity".

Does anybody know -- does that pattern name have any actual relation to the 'translation' of the four letters/characters that form the central part of the design??

I have this pattern in two little vases, a teapot, a plate and a bowl. It seems to be a popular pattern and could be made for the export market?

for stopping by and clicking the <love it> button!

Lauren, I did indeed find pics online of numerous different pieces with this same design, but I don't truly know what 'market' they might have been produced for. Nonetheless -- I'll be on the lookout and hope I run across some more one of these days...I still just absolutely *love* their festive bright colors! ;-) <lol> :-)
