does anyone know what this tin pail is for? it's about 20 inches tall and is very well made. i like it but would like to know what it was for. thanks!

Might be for golf balls, transport at the driving range. The slots are for cleaning with a garden hose.
Both of those functions would work although the clams might fall out of the slots. i think a mesh type container would be better for clams, but clams were my first thought too.
