I am new to this site. I have enjoyed every ones posts for the last year which I have used to enhance my own understanding of antique trunks. I find I am not alone in thrill of the hunt. Although I have yet to begin any restorations, I would like to give back to all on board by way of my acquisitions and hope they may help in some way as yours have helped me. I have tried so far, successfully I think, to keep them with a foundation of being unique in some way from the common elements out there. I hope you will enjoy them as I have yours and all your fine workmanship on the ones that have been restored.

This Roll top trunk by R.H. Macy & Co I have placed with a date no earlier than 1910 simply because of the time frame in which the lock company was established. If I am wrong please let me know. Stunningly thick hardware. Below is a snip-it of that research.
On June 27, 1910, at the offices of Cummings & Lockwood, Elisha, together with sons Moseley and James, held the first meeting of the incorporators of the

Excelsior Hardware Company. The duly approved Certificate of Incorporation had been filed May 10, 1910 with the Secretary of State of Connecticut and a copy filed with the Stamford Town Clerk on May 11th. Their stated purposes were to manufacture various types of locks and hardware, to obtain machinery and equipment and to acquire land as needed. Capital stock of $25,000 was divided into 1000 shares of common stock with a par value of $25. Duration of the company was to be unlimited. By-laws were written and annual meetings were to begin January 23, 1911.

Excellent Job on that. The leather color choice is actually my favorite and slated already for a leather turtle top with all tooled leather still intacted and lots of cast trim. I had just picked up a Duluth trunk more similar to this one at 41" long with complete double tray interior and label, as well it has the simulated canvas metal pattern covering which I was going to match to my daughter of white sofa but your color scheme looks extremely warm and inviting as well. I am going to save that to the duluth file folder to show her when its time for her to choose. Thanks for showing me that one, I have been looking around for example of this length. Her couch is long and a 36" standard is a little insignificant and not of the correct proportion to true tie in!

      Im4anythingOld,
Thanks very much!! I had a lot of leather lying around in my shop and so I decided to replace the old binding with some of the leather. I was pleased with the final results. Thanks again very much!!
