Early 1870's High End Fancy Nail Leather Barrel Stave Trunk. This 36" long beauty was sold by the time I saw it, but was fortunate enough that the people who bought it couldn't see in it what I could, and sold it to me days after they bought it...I couldn't believe it the whole way home...so just because something has been sold certainly doesn't mean you can't still own it. lol
One of my all time favorites... no die cast trimmings go figure... but I know for a fact that you pros out there can already see what this would look like when finished properly. Proportions of body, workmanship and layout balance is to me just stunning and I couldn't ask for any better. all patented hardware 1869-1871 nickle plated flush face lock ...the interior has a layout not tray but certainly not the end of the world for me. Don't have a maker but can't wait to get to this one.

Another great trunk, the tin and nail work is what makes this trunk, this will be a fantastic trunk when done, very lucky to acquire it! greendog

Wonderful find . Totally agree, with the correct restoration this would without a
      doubt look absolutely stunning.

Thanks Greendog..very lucky...I was depressed literally for a couple of days that I missed this item by minutes..I am sure we have all been there..And it took .. another couple of days for the non-belief that I now own it to sink in and go away....I wonder if I was taking it to personal. LOL... non the less..... victorious!

Thanks bjb5859 ...I would like to say to you, I find your workmanship impeccable and have saved many of your pictures, as well as all the others actually that have commented on my items thus far for the restoration process I have yet to face, whether it be for interior, color, paint sheen, wood sheen, hardware polished, painted, etc. I personally have to know the desired outcome before I start. To much effort involved to get it wrong. Thanks again to you and all others even though you didn't know you have been studied for over a year!!

Thank you Im4anythingOld for your kind words.
That's the first thing I do when restoring a trunk.I have all the paint finishes, wood finishes ,fabrics ,lithographs, hardware finishes, leather handle designs ,stains etc.etc . Before I even start. It makes the project move along much faster. As with any project, planning and preparation go a long way toward a successful completion.

I want to move to where you are. Impressive collection, cant wait to see what you do to them.

bjb5859 yes for sure once you have prepared all that thought and understanding it is in the mind done. Then simply apply the physical aspect no thought required. As A high end kitchen designer and installer myself, I have to follow the preparation rules from the get go. Like you say 100% preparation goes a long way toward a successful completion.

Well then JonB you will have to move to Ontario Canada it seems we have more here than any province from what my search shows.

Great look/design to this one! A beautiful find even before any restoration..

Yes Trunkman Thanks, Thats why I was so depressed that I had originally missed it by minutes. What would be the chances of actually finding another like this...I think slim and next to none.
