    Small cast iron pocket size level. Ive never seen one like this. Does anybody know anything about them. Found in an old family barn. Thanks for any info

      Being cast iron it was probably a machinists level but could have been used in any trade. Stanley made them back in the 1880's but I don't recall the cut outs being being this fancy. I would sooner think Starrett out of Athol, Mass might be worth a look. I think Stanley has online archives but not sure about Starrett. Stanley called them pocket levels while others called them a torpedo level or pocket level depending on the shape as you look at it from the top.

      thanks i will look into it i have some older wooden ones but i had never seen a decorative cast iron level.
