A transparent pink glass vase with a drapery-like texture has four added blue rigaree handles - the vase stands 6 3/16" (15.5 cm) tall with a diameter at the opening of 3 1/2" (9 cm). My instinct says this is Czech and that's about as definite as I'm going to get with this one. The underside has no import mark but it does have a spoke-like in-mold pattern.

I was an under bidder on this one, but I let it get away - damn it - very nice and I would be happy to say it was Kralik.

Thanks for dropping out Phil - it is a nice piece of glass. I appreciate the suggested attribution. I've wobbled back and forth between Kralik and Welz since receiving it, couldn't make a determination, and finally thought maybe some unknown other could have been responsible. I'll keep the Kralik association in mind.
Thanks to all for the loves.

Wow, that's gorgeous. The blue stops it being simply pretty.

There was another one for sale recently, same as this one, not in my location. It would have fit well with my assortment of other Kralik shapes in translucent pink and cobalt glass application.

There is also another vase on those strut feet in cobalt, in the pink diamond optic decor. Not saying they are all by Kralik, but most are. Love the drape decor.

Many years ago, the use of pink and cobalt was declared in error by a researcher to be a marker for Kralik production. That has in fact been shown to be incorrect.

In fact, several companies used the combination. In light of that, it is important to determine the maker through the shape where possible, and not jump to unsupportable conclusion that because it is pink glass and has cobalt handles/rigaree it was made by Kralik.

The same researcher claimed years ago that the draped decor was also a Kralik decor, and that the examples in the Welz case in Passau were a mistake. That in fact, is also an incorrect finding, and it is easily provable at this point that other houses, to include Welz, made the draped decor also.

There is ample evidence to show that the vase in the above comment 8 link, claimed to be Kralik by the seller, is actually production by the firm of Franz Welz. Although the above shape in this CW post is not one I recognize to be Welz at this point, I lean heavily towards Welz as the maker of this piece.

Mysterious account of why this glass piece is not Kralik, but more likely by Welz..... No hard facts, no name, no places, no dates, and no statement that it's possible that Kralik with others made some draped decors, and in this color combination.

When we deal with 1920s decorative glass, it is important to keep an open mind. The drape decor was also produced in the USA by Hobbs & Bruckenier, a company who had British glass designers. Yes I am saying the drape decor may have been used in the UK as well.

So, no only might there be several producers in Bohemia/Czechoslovakia, but also in other countries during the same late 19th - early 20th century period who where using this decor.

There is actually no statement above that says this is not Kralik, although I seriously doubt it is. What is stated is that I lean strongly towards Welz as the production house for the piece. I also stated that determining production to be Kralik based on the use of pink and cobalt glass is, IMHO, a mistake

As far as draped decors go, they were made by a variety of companies in a number of countries. That is reasonably well understood by most who study glass seriously.

This production is unmistakably Czech, so a discussion of American, English, and other makers that developed draped decors is not really a pertinent fact.

I have always found that if discussing Czech glass it is good to try and stay on topic. The same would apply to English, American, French, Italian et al.

Just came across this other Kralik vase with the mark and a decor we have seen before, with red rigaree handle decorations. I had not seen this shape before either, it's amazing we still come across pieces such as this one, which just shows that there is still much we don't know about in Czech interwar glass.:
