These are part of my ball-jointed doll (BJD) collection. They are made of resin and their eyes can be changed as well as their wigs, and, of course, their clothing. The third doll has interchangeable hands. All of these dolls were made in Asia, where most ball-jointed dolls originate. The first doll was made by Hypermaniac. The next is by Soul Doll. The third is by Dollti, and the fourth is by the well-known Japanese company, Volks, one of the first to produce ball-jointed dolls.
The smaller doll, like the Soul Doll in the second photo, is considered an MSD- a Mini Super Dollfie. The others are considered to be SD models (Super Dollfie).

The first one almost looks real. Any reason for the drawn down lips? They look sad.
Thanks for the love, Roy. They do seem to come to life when they're posed just so. The drawn down lips do make them look sad and pensive. This is just the way they're made, pretty much across the board it seems. I do have a vampire ball-jointed doll who has fangs, and she just looks, well, vicious.

Thank you so much, Malkey! I will take more photos of Midori (It's a coincidence her hair is the color of the liqueur as she also has other wigs in other colors.) so you can see her full goth regalia, including high-heeled pleather boots, and I'll photograph Lilith (my vampire doll) as well.

Scott, they're unusual, right? Like Phil said, I think it's in the eyes and perhaps the pose-ability of them. The fact that you can dress them however you wish and change their hair and eye color is also humanizing.

Judy, some people do their own dolls' faces. They'll purchase a blank head or take off the make-up from the original and re-do it. It's a real art. There's a site exclusively for BJD collectors called Den of Angels.

Thank you for the love, Karen and Michael. Karen, I had an original 1970s Blythe but sold her a while back. I've tried what they call a face-up but got frustrated and decided to just enjoy others' artistry. Do you do any OOAK work?
