This piece was my first pick from the local flea market about 25 years ago....did not know what it was.... but for shure it was love at first sight .........I've felt a very strong rush in all my body when I have seen it .... the collectors know what I am talking about.....,
I had to save it from the seller`s hands and old "Gabor" an Transylvanian Gippsy ethnic ( dressed in black costume with white shirt and big black hat) selfproclaimed " antique trader " but the old smuggler ( he also sold American ciggarets Kent & Marlboro but not on display..., packed black pepper from Hungary, coffee from West Germany , dryed vegetable soup from Yugoslavia and digital watch and batteries .....gasoline...diesel...firewood...hay...horses .....you name it ...he's got it....or if not he can ask around...in the communist era) asked the equivalent of 1000 American cigarettes for the vase ,a lot, and I have asked him : - why its so expensive ? -Because it is old...yet very pretty .....and very well preserved he said. With that arguments it was very hard for me to lower the price. The deal went on for 600 ciggarets and after that I have become his regular client for glass objects ...This is the true story of this find...in the future I will post a photo with me ,the Gippsy seller named Pista , his son Baica and a few male members of his family dressed traditionally in black suits with large black hats. I greatly care and respect him and his family.
