The "Red-Yellow-Green Aventurine" decor is shown on www.Kralik-glass.com on Welz shapes and on clear and orange grounds - this vase shows a "Red-Yellow-Green Aventurine" decor on what appears to be a Kralik shape (identified in an old Kralik catalog as shape C61) on a black (amethyst) ground. This vase stands just over 14" (35.6 cm) tall. The four small feet give a rectangular footprint to the essentially round bottom. The underside has an acid-stamped "Made in Czechoslovakia" marking that I often associate with Welz, so this vase is a puzzle to me.

I love the beautiful lines and colours of you vase! I recently found a vase in a similar shape - just black or possibly very dark amethyst glass. Mine is only 12 inches. I have been searching for hours to find out what mine is - with no result. Do you know what this shape is called? I will post mine the next time I get my camera out.
Sorry for bothering you with my question:)

Not a bother - unfortunately, I don't have an especially good answer. From what I've seen, there are a couple of related shapes, all with triangular buttresses rising from the feet to the top edge and with ridges between the buttresses, that are known to have been made by Franz Welz Klostergrab. They were made in many sizes. If there is a shape name, and there probably is, or at least a shape number, I am not aware of it.

For freiheit - I fear I may have led you wrong and have updated the info in the post. In Monograph #59 from The West Virginia Museum of American Glass, "Czech Glass Catalog featuring Kralik Glassworks", this shape is identified as C61. The vase was available in 14 sizes ranging from 10 cm to 100 cm.

Although C61 appears to be similar, the feet on that vase are different from the feet on this example. There may be other differences we can not see also, but the foot difference alone would disallow the vase from being Kralik production as seen in that Monograph. I personally believe that this vase is Welz production, and have an example of it in my collection.

Thank you Craig for confirming my initial impression of this vase. Detail is not the best in the reprint I have but the shape and size seemed close enough that I thought I should mention it. Do you happen to have a picture of the C61 feet?

I will look. I am not sure if I have one or not. If I do, I will post a link to it.
