Got this table from an estate sale. I have scoured the internet trying to find out what kind of table it is and who made it, to no avail. It measures 14.5" W x 19" D x 23.75" H.
    Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Have not seen one in my books that I can remember. Its like a small tea table with a box possibly to store tea. The boxes of old were always locked up as it was considered a valuable commodity in the old days.

I’m reminded of a land owner accepting rent from tenant farmers, locking it up in the box and seeing them the door.

      Thank you for your feedback.
Actually, it is a faux lock. Sorry I didn't say this in the beginning. Would you know what era? Thanks!

      ITs a HUMIDOR :)
I have one. Bought it at an estate sale too. I was told it was a humidor ..the box is to hold your cigars and your glass of Brandy on the table; while you smoke your cigar. To be positioned by your armchair for after dinner. Seems they were popular at the end of the 18th Century through to the Mid Twentieth century. Higher end ones had the boxes lined with enamel or copper to preserver the cigars well. Lots of different styles out there. Mine is identical to yours. I refinished the top of mine and in doing so found that the wood is not completely solid. Its an overlay.. looks like walnut to me but I could be wrong.
