Well I must say, this is one of my new favorites. What really does it for me is the black applied handles. They are very ornate and intricate, consistent with each other. Remains of a Pontil. The Aventurine Spatter is vibrant and consistently applied.

I changed out one of the photos to a bottom shot, as requested. Thanks.

A good clear pic of the underside would go a long ways in helping to determine origins.

Gorgeous, no answers for you though. I love those applied handles too!

It is possible that it is production by Vincenzo Nason & Cie of Murano, and from the 1970's, although the Chinese have done similar production as of late. The base does not look Chinese, but they are getting better at their finishes. I would say that the Chinese examples are generally larger than this piece. Sorry I can not be of more help.

Pretty! I know nothing about Murano makers, but I thought I would add that similar dark amethyst and aventurine pieces were also made by Joska (Germany), Spiegelau (Germany) and a British glassworks I cannot remember the name of.

Thank you Shareurpassion, I just added a closeup of the handles. Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks Welzebub, I would be pleasantly surprised to find out that it is V Nason, so I appreciate your take.

I agree, having owned several examples of black & aventurine glass by Nason. This is different to the ones I had, but the handles are very Murano in style. Have also seen the Chinese versions in gift shops from the late 1990s onwards...they are typically made of rather thickly cased glass & the shapes are plain if not a touch clumsy. This vase definitely has a Venetian flair to it in terms of the form. I also once had a very large cased black & aventurine vase marked with a label that read "Caprice Italy". Not sure if that was anything to do with Nason's products or by another maker.

Europe seems to have a large contingent of Italian style reproduction glass recently. I know a website in the Nederlands that sells true vintage glass, but you can find a few recent glass pieces mixed in, with the wrong attributions.
Here is another site that sells vintage glass in Germany, and this link shows a similar millefiori vase with same handles as yours, which is also most likely recent. In spite of all this, these glass pieces are still nice and attractive. You like it, that's what matters. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks to Anik. I wasn't really sure how many places this "look" came out of. Anywhere but China in this particular case. Thanks again.

Thanks Rose, I am very keen on finding out as much as I can about this piece. The handles are particularly interesting. V Nason makes a lot of sense when going by other examples of their work. Thanks for your help.
