Good morning, I won this vase at an auction months ago, looking to identify it. Meas 12” tall, hollow bottom. Please help me identify it

I'm confused...you say its a vase, but it looks like an egg...is there an opening in it somewhere we just can't see in which you'd put the flowers/etc?? And what does "hollow bottom" mean...?? For that matter, there's the simple question of what side of it IS the top (or bottom) whether open, hollow, or anything else?? (and if there isn't an open end on it someplace, how on earth would it be called a vase...???)

Very sorry if these are dumb questions, but I just can't manage to get a perspective on this thing by the sideways/upside down (aren't they?) photos, no matter how much I keep looking sideways at the screen...???
