Circa 1901-4, this unusual RSK Amphora vase is rare for the form and decoration, which is decidedly more "free" and experimental than typical RSK Amphora production. The surface design and decor are reminiscent of Levy-Durhmer's symbolist Clement Massier ceramics. There's certainly an otherworldly quality to the decoration. The bottom is impressed with the large stylized "RSK" stamp, as well as "Amphora" and the form number, "3543." Dimensions: 6.5"(H) x 5"(W).

Richard L. Scott, The House of Amphora, p. 322, explains that his marks AM-11 and AM-12, in use c. 1900-04, "were used in conjunction with objects that were hand finished on the potter's wheel. The bottom of the object was striated from the non-slip surface of the wheel, hence was too irregular for the traditional RStK transfer mark."
