I've had these printed glasses for quite a long time now (another charity shop find) but I can't find out anything about them. they are beautifully printed with horses, and I suspect it is dressage related. There are 4 different pictures with something written underneath in French, and what I assume is German, but I am no linguist! I always assumed that maybe these have come from a Museum shop or something like that. Has anyone any ideas?

Use Google Translate to understand what information is printed on the glasses, put in Google ‘French to English’ and put in the text from the glass.

I tried that. It came up with
"Redop on a circle narrow the longevity of the horse" which doesn't make a lot of sense, but could be related to a dressage !

The prints come a series done by Johann Elias Ridinger, I think.

Johann Elias Ridinger was a German painter, engraver, draughtsman and publisher. He is considered one of the most famous German engravers of animals, particularly horses, hounds and hunting scenes. Wikipedia

'Redopp auf einem kleinen Circul von Länge der Pferds rechts’ is the German title. The other is in French.

It is a visual pun in a way I think. A Redopp is a two beat canter. In this case around the small circuit of the glass to the right.

Thank you everyone for your helpful comments. I have looked up Johann Elias Ridinger, and they do look like his work.
