Vintage clock.. pat date 1979. I was wondering why there are 12 starts on a unofficial US flag.
The clock is in pieces and appears to have most of its components.

I doubt that flag is original to the clock.
Actually, I'm fairly certain that one of the previous owners of your clock applied that flag painting or decal to the clock. The clock model is called the "Lilac" reportedly from circa 1896. The Patent Dates stamped on the front of the movement are from the 1800's, not the 1900's. Although the finish of your clock is in kind of a "stressed" state, the glass tablet is the original (at least the original design illustrated in Ingraham's Catalog drawings). The very top of the clock has a small piece broken off, or missing. From the factory, the clock measured 22 inches tall. Your movement was equipped to set off a small separate alarm movement, which you don't show in your photos so if it is not present, it's been lost. Original list price for this model in 1896 ranged between $5.30 and $6.00 depending on what type of hourly strike it had. A separate strike gong cost more. I assume that if the hour strike and alarm sounded on the same bell, the clock cost a little less. Adjusted for inflation your clock would have cost about $165 to $175 in early part of 2018 This clock is classified as a wood cased mantel clock. The popular name for this kind of clock is "Gingerbread" or "Kitchen" Clock. In excellent, complete condition Ingraham clocks such as this one can currently auction for their original value (around $175) or more. If they are incomplete and not in particularly good condition the realized price at auction can drop substantially to around $30. Hope that helps solve your mystery. This one is not in particularly good condition as the dial is severely worn off and the hands are mis-matched but the case is complete and as you can see, matches yours.
