These were designed by Toshichi Iwata and possibly made by him, although all were in their line of studio products. That basically means any glass blower at the studio could have made these to Toshichi's design.
The three handkerchief style are very typical of Iwata in the 50s/60s. The smaller heavy cased bowl is later I think.
I have seen these in a number of bright colours.
I've seen this type of handkerchief vase around for years, & didn't know who made them...thanks! :-)
These colors look beautiful displayed together. Wonderful pieces!
Beautiful colors & shapes, love them all but esp the two blue close up in the second photo - their swirly texture is wonderful
Enervating colours and great shapes.....again :)
Just a little of beauty:)
Thanks IL. Most of the major Japanese glass companies made handkerchief bowls in the 60s and 70s, and although they are all similar each has their own style.
Iwata generally was a bit looser, if you get what I mean (I can't elucidate my thoughts due to being brain dead on a Thursday evening)
many thanks Anik!
Yes, yes, I get what you mean by looser...& somewhat thicker too. I used to have several Murano "hankies" & they were all fairly thin. These have a more robust quality to them.
Blue for you Jenni :))
Ken is first offer for the yellow - all good thanks mate!
Good word enervating. One of those ones that sounds the opposite of it's meaning.
Thanks Peggy!
Gotta love orange. Thanks for the vote Eileen!
Yeah, Toshichi Iwata was a very loose glass maker generally, and influenced the whole genre. The Italians are generally a bit controlled. Iwata could do the control stuff too, just rathered not.
Wow, what stand out colors! Nice collection!
The very best colour hues here !~
Really beautiful shapes and colors.
Aloha from Hawaii, Iv added a pic to my collection, search - hapoli. Id enjoy your feedback. Mahalo.
