This was the only thing worth buying in a shop I had never been to before...the rest of the jewelry was RUBBISH. This pendant was in a basket with more rubbish jewelry. I saw the woman pictured on the back and knew it was old. I am guessing 1920s/1930s. I didn't know it was silver until I tested it - and I tested it 3 times to be sure! Not marked anywhere that I could find. I cleaned it up enough to make it look presentable but retained the patina. I could not find a single thing on the web about this pendant or the dance union. I usually sell a good portion of my finds so I have money to go out and find more bargains!! This pendant, however, will remain with me.
Thanks for looking!
Bonnie
P.S. Well golly gee, I enlarged my own photo here and found a mark!! Now I need to get out my loupe to see if I can read it.....added a photo but am afraid that is about as good as it will look.
Such a beautiful woman, so gracious!
Lovely dancing lady & reverse side crest, the mark writing looks like a French word maybe "vaugoin" or "aucoin", just a guess
So beautiful !! Eagle Eye Bonnie strikes again ! :)
Chalk up another great find!
How many does this make? Lol
Beautiful & interesting piece...
I would indeed keep it :)
Bonnie, I cracked up on that last remark ! LOL!! I've been living with these "Dike Hoppers" for 39 yrs & don't remember hearing "Golly gee" even once. FMFAO !!
Hey blunder!! I'm originally from The Bronx.... :-)))))))
Hi Bonnie, this is lovely! I would be keeping it too:-)
Nice find Bonnie! Gracious pose, nice patina too!
I think I read Vaugoin too... perhaps the engraver/medallist?
Pascale - I was hoping you would come along! Yes, the name of the engraver. Still looking for info.
