i found this [amongst lots of other cool stuff] yesterday at the Alameda Flea Market. I can't tell whether it is bronze or pewter, but regardless it has a great patina. how old do you think it is?
if you live anywhere near the bay area, you should definitely check out the monthly flea market in Alameda. i can't believe how much great stuff at great prices available there! and the vendors are almost always willing to bargain.
