made of cast iron, has small holes for screws to fasten it to something, and varied larger sizes. Handle end has small hook device to guide thread or line through, Perfectly flat back. Points are darkened, perhaps by flame.

Beautiful piece of cast iron. The combination of a handle and screw-holes to fasten it down is confusing. Here's a couple of quick Guesses: It's to scrape mud off your boots; it's a fish scaler.
Hey UncleRon, I was thinking the same, but settled on Curry Comb, it's fancy for a barn, what ever it is! :^)
billretirecoll- I thought of curry comb but remembered them as having finer teeth. The hoof pick idea is interesting though. I hope someone gives a link to an ID.
What are the dimensions? The handle reminds me of stoves. Maybe a pot warmer.

Sounds kind of corny but if it sold at that price plus over $400 in fees I suppose corny is good. I'd like to find a dozen of them.

I am more familiar with the hand held cast aluminum Jiffy hand corn sheller that is a single hole tool. Having six holes makes it six times as cool.....obviously at least 6X worth more. A Jiffy is worth about 200 bones. Hopefully ewertjc checks back on his mystery post....
WOW indeed -- somebody must have *really* wanted that thing?!! But to ask what hopefully isn't the CaptainObvious question...so to use this thing, you'd shove an ear of corn thru one of the appropriately sized holes to shear the kernels off...???

This is a single size new type, and it's used on dry pop, or seed corn. To give an idea on how to use one. I was thinking fresh raw corn, and what a mess it would make, but I still can't see how this 6 hole size, with the shelling spikes on the top would work, and can see why it's so rare! :^D Nobody could spend that much time to shell a cob of seed corn! :^)
billretiredcoll- I noticed in the video that the modern sheller did a lousy job at the end of the cob because it was too big but in the center it did a great job. I see how the various holes in this piece could solve that problem (although one or two seem awfully small). Also, the horizontal teeth (relative to the cob) would probably work better than the "vertical" teeth of the modernone. Still, I'm not sure I'm buying the ID; at least until I see the actual patent application.
