Rare Canadian Sherman Japanned, Topaz, Citrine, & AB Brooch, Necklace, & Earrings Parure Set Circa 1960 obtained 2015.
The japanned back is pure gunmetal black, in Mint condition, some say minty !~

For years I did not like this brooch much due to color and AB stones. Lately I have come to appreciate more the incredible design in this largest I believe of all the Sherman brooches that he made. This design is featured prominently in the Sherman Book. There are also 2 very similar brooches in smaller sizes shown in "Multiples Section" where they show some of the color variety in a collection of the same brooch.

Some have once conjectured that with the twink of a stone on the strobe lit dance floor, that contact with ET was imminent with this brooch. But seriously, I do not get into any of those head trips !!~

Amazing! It would be interesting to see it against various fabrics. I imagine it would highlight many different colors in that gorgeous set.

Yes Eileen, those companies that used these stones made magnificent designs back in their day which was plagued by threats of nuclear bombs but were definitely North America's heyday, the best we can do these days is collect the past !~

Looking at some of your "oldies but goodies" and I just fell in love with this set!
These topaz/citrine combos are true beauties, aren't they?
Amazing how Gustave Sherman could create pieces that are glittery and huge yet still exquisitely tasteful. They're never "too much", you know? Always perfection.
Thank you for sharing these. What a delight they are.
