I'm not an Avon collector but see a lot of it in thrift shops. I am a fan of tealight and votive candle holders, though, and have never seen this one before. Like I said, earlier, a slim finds day. A Google and ebay search turned up several of these but no attributions for a maker. One on ebay had its box and was dated 1978. It is made from a two part mold, 4 3/4" l x 3 3/4" w x 2 1/8" h. Marked Avon 15 on the bottom. Nice detail in the shell and unusual among turtle candle holders as its head is turned to one side. Does anyone know who made this for Avon? I have seen numerous boxes of various Avon crystal glass also marked with Fostoria's name, so that is my best guess for the maker of this turtle. One seller claimed he had seen one of these without the Avon mark and with an Indiana Glass Company label. Doubtful!

I also show a purported Indiana Glass turtle which is much more diminutive. I doubt it is made by Indiana Glass. The seller did not respond to my query about their identification of the maker. Indiana Glass usually made large, robust animal candle holders, more in line with this Avon entry. See Newfld's post on the proved Indiana Glass turtle for reference:

I have done a separate post for the small turtle.

He's an awfully cute glass turtle votive holder, love when they're shaped like animals and this one has a nice crisscross shell

Thanks for the comment Newfld. I think it is cute, too. Leaning toward Fostoria as the maker. It is high quality glass and from the period when Fostoria was making glass for Avon. Supposedly Fostoria made a lot of clear glass items for Avon.

      Hi Kevin,
The Indiana Glass turtle votive I have is larger than your clear second turtle in photo. The actual dimensions are 2 1-2"H x 5 1'2"W x 4"D, see examples in both clear and green sold on etsy, with my label. My width measure was slightly off, will go fix now, thanks

Thanks, Jenni! Well dang! I wonder who made this small one that looks like the Indiana Glass? I will do a post for it. Also, while looking on ebay for a smaller example like mine, I found a seller claiming that they have seen turtles similar to the one in this post minus the Avon mark and sporting an Indiana Glass label. I am dubious about that claim. It just does not feel like Indiana Glass to me.
