My son says it is not antique, still occasionally sees them used today when one doesn't want to carry a full bag of clubs.

Clubs would all fall off when you 'carried' it. Driver is heavy and would fall off unless counterweighted properly. Room for four clubs only?

Appears you have a "Silent Golf Club Caddy" mikeigotit.

Maybe it's to use at the gold practice range or other places, where you need only a few clubs and stay put, not meant to install at each hole's tee-off as you move along, in a cart or on foot. Played golf for 10 years, never saw one of these on the courses. Nice idea in some circumstances. :-)

lzenglish, My son couldn't recall what this was called, & I was not able to locate it through google. Thank you for finding it.
mikeigotit, My son resides on the west coast of the U.S.A. & sees them occasionally on the golf course.

pw-collector, your welcome! Glad to find it for all of us to see, and learn. First time i have ever seen it myself, but it's design purpose does make sense to me.

I don't think it's before the '40s if the handle is plastic and the body is aluminium. Golf seems to be most popular in the mid-century to 1990s era.
