I am visiting my Mum at the moment and I found this bracelet in her sewing basket! Mum says she’s had it as long as she can remember, (she is 88). I think it’s older because it seems to have the Victorian Lozenge Registration Mark. Unfortunately I can’t make it out at all. It’s made of a thin metal, though I don’t think it’s silver (no silver marks), though it cleaned up a bit with silver polish. Has anyone come across something like this before?

Yes I have, mine was with a the same band as yours and balls with filigree on each end without any marks, does the UK Victorian registry mark on silver metal not indicate silver content? Great find!

The Uk has a lion silver mark, plus marks for where assayed and date. Registration mark should tell date the design was registered, the category, ie metal, ceramics, glass etc date etc, but the lozenge is difficult to read on this bracelet.

Those two very small worn impressed marks could be hallmarks. What I believe is that your bracelet is silver. There are 2 types of registry marks, yours is the later one in use from 1868 to 1883. An expert might know what these marks mean by the shape, which was another way to date the item. Thanks for your reply.

Not trying to be rude or funny but it does seem to make a difference what time I ask my mom something. Usually the morning is best. You might want to give that a try. Maybe something might remind her. It's a very cool piece and maybe made by 2 separate pieces.

Really pretty bangle. I can't say I recognise the hallmarks they don't look British marks. Is it possible to have close ups of the marks.

I’m afraid picture 3 was as good as I could get of the marks! I tried looking with a magnifying glass but still couldn’t make them out!
