I bought this yesterday from a local thrift shop for 1 Euro. I am from NY, and my great-grandparents emigrated through Ellis Island somewhere around 1900. They learned English (they only spoke Yiddish) and became citizens, so this medallion has become very important to me. The medallion is about the size of a Half Dollar coin. I've never seen one before. I did not expect it to be silver, but the proof is in the scratching. Only thing resembling marks are circled in red. I found a similar one online, but the photo was not available aside from being on Pinterest. I didn't see anything of the sort in the souvenir shop at Ellis Island. So, basically no information about when this medallion might have been issued. Ellis Island closed in 1954 but remains a tourist attraction.
Thanks for looking!
