I have relatives in Richmond, VA and visited last year. This wonderful Lichtenstein tiled entry was for a pharmacy in the Shockoe Bottom downtown area of Richmond. I remembered this entry from years past and asked the cafe if we could move their rug for a picture. "yes, of course". Here is the picture. My last name is close, not exact. Our family is Prussian and immigrated in 1860's to the glorious Midwest. Thank you to my relatives! Not sure about the other entry but, so pretty I want to share it.
Thank you clockerman for your love of these entry tiles.
Very nice tilework. Back in the day, many of the old apartment buildings in NYC had this type of tile work.
Most with just the building number, but it definitely stood out. Not only in Manhattan, but in the Bronx and Brooklyn also. Good stuff.
Yes, some beautiful tile work and I like to photograph when I see them. I think you do too.
Great old tile work, the colorful mosaic type on the right is really pretty
Really beautiful - when names meant something !~
Wow! Gorgeous and wonderfully intact!
