This is my latest addition to my pressed glass. Found in a charity shop on the way to the super market (any excuse!). I think it's Fenton Basket Weave pattern, and there are no marks so I think it's before 1973. I took the pictures outside, as we have a heatwave at the moment and the bowl looks wonderful in the sun! I am getting a bit concerned, as we have had no rain here in Cheshire for 2 months! Is this what is known as Amberina? It does have a yellow/orange base.
Beautiful ruby red bowl & love the outdoor natural light pix. Yes there are amberina touches so you could call it amberina, however when predominantly red I like to label them ruby amberina
Thanks Newfld, that makes sense. Ruby Amberina sounds lovely!
Love the gorgeous reflection
That's so true Fleafinder. It looks much better in sun, but I am struggling with the heat! It's 32 here today, and the UK isn't used to this heat.
What a wonderful bright, fiery luminescence!
Wow dats quite hot for the uk!heard the weather is going gaga around the globe:)))
gorgeous bowl Adele... Fenton introduced this line #1092 Basket Weave c1911. "R" mentions the ruby line as c1921-37; tho' not sure where they get those dates. The appearance of amber in ruby glass is somewhat common due to the re-firing process of ruby glass to develop the deep ruby color; thus many collectors call this ruby amberina.
Thanks for all the loves and comments, and especially thanks Tallcakes for the extra info. I must say it looks great in the sunshine.
forgot to mention that I have a Fostoria ruby cake stand which also exhibits the look of amberina in strong light:
