The belt loop skill awards system was started in the later 1970s. I know it ran through the 1980s but am not sure when it ended. But it was a bit of bling for the belt. Speaking belts I have bought three so far for this project. The one that came with the loops was too small and the second a no show.
There were at least 12 of these awards. Seven are represented here. I think they were replaced by meret badges as they cover similar areas. Now to cover which are present in this post.
Photo #2- Swimming, Family Living and Camping
Photo #3 - Cooking, Citizenship and First Aid
Photo #4 - Hiking and Communication
Still have a few more pieces to add before the 1980s boy scout display is ready for viewing.

These belt badges were awarded to Cub Scouts. Similar to merit badges each had a list of requirements. I hated them because they were awkward to wear on the belt and many of the Cub Scouts didn't want to wear them so the ended up being not worn and often lost.

Thank you very much flashlarue. The ones for cub scouts were a bit smaller and don't fit on the boy scout belt. I have the archery one right here. Have a feeling these were only worn at meetings.

I would like to know the origin of this particular belt / skill award set ?
I’m not trying to get it back . I only want to know how it came into your possession and where it came from . As much detail as possible would be much appreciated

SSorry Sandy Scout didn't see your post. Yes I would be interested.

rac4433. I think I got it off eBay. It has been awhile since I got them.
