Wow! What a stunning brooch set!! I love crescent moon shape pins and the colors are fantastic. This set would be perfect for the Christmas Holidays. Well Done! :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't think any other jewelry company matches Sherman for their excellence and consistent execution of design perfection. I've never seen a Sherman piece that wasn't top quality, they just never put a foot wrong. And that hurts to say considering all the American companies who have done magnificent pieces, but give credit where it's due, overall Sherman really is the best. Thanks for sharing!

      Just wonderful Eileen :-)
    5. PhilDMorris PhilDMorris, 2 years ago
Yes Eileen, you did very well. I have collections now and they appear to have made brooch sets more than parures in general. The use of these stones is considered rare indeed.

Awe, Thank you Ken... Can always count on your support. I read somewhere lately that these were termed "Christmas Pieces", though the time of year they came out is unkown. That, I suppose, is why they are limited.
    7. Ms.CrystalShip Ms.CrystalShip, 2 years ago
Thanks Karen...your support means a lot.
    8. Ms.CrystalShip Ms.CrystalShip, 2 years ago're so kind. They are wonderful though, are they not? :)

Katherinescollections...Sherman did make some pieces that are Jaw dropping...
The best? Hmmm. In some regards, but I have to go with Trifari, Boucher, Schreiner, etc.
So much competition, but I will agree Sherman pieces are in a class of their own.

      Phil, thank you my friend.
A kind word from you concerning Sherman is all it takes to make my day!
What do you think? Were these meant to be "Christmas Pieces"? I believe I read about this on the Costume Jewelry Collectors site. And the subject of "one of's" came up. Apparently there is a cuff bracelet with these remarkable colors that is "one of a kind"! Exciting, is it not?
    11. PhilDMorris PhilDMorris, 2 years ago
Hi Eileen, I have a small collection of these pieces and the author of the book sold me hers from her collection. They do appear to be Christmas colours, but that can change in an instant. I do not know of the bracelet that matches this colour combination but I would LOVE to see one, as the book does not show one, so none of those people had one.

      Just gorgeous!

I peeked at your collection to see just what competition Phil has here...haha Your whole collection is just gorgeous and I'm sure you and Phil are having loads of fun. Great to see.

      Thank you MrsT.
      As always...

Shareurpassion...LOL, Phil has no competition on this site. A lot of us have a few pieces of Sherman, I have 4 Sets, a single brooch, & a bracelet. I'm a D & E gal, but once in a while I see a different designer, like Sherman , and the piece is so gorgeous I can't pass it up! That's the collectors in all of us.
When it comes to Sherman Jewelry, Phil has the collection only the rest of us can dream about. Thank you so much for your kind words, and yes, we are all having fun :)

I love your D&E pieces immensely. I see you live in California. Do you get your pieces of Sherman in Calgary ?? I bought one recent brooch that was very expensive however I do not buy from Cali since I often get charged duty and then provincial tax and GST.
The D&E I really love because they take into heart the whole reason why they made costume jewellery in the 50's so well. They USED PRONGS and not glue !~

Midtake. I meant in California ??

That's O.K., look at the colossal mistake I made with the Rivoli fiasco! Ha!
My opague baby blue and clear crystal set...intertwining circles I purchased here in California. The Purple Brooch with the alexandrite stones ( all 4 of them) came from Kentucky of all places.
But the Cresent Moon & Wreath sets in the yummy colors both came from Canada!
And thanks Phil, I do love my D& E!!

Oops, my first set, the one with olive & amber navettes, and the clear bracelet also came from Canada...
And I can't wait to see your new brooch! :)

I am not too fond of buying from States as there is always duty put on some and all seem to have to pay prov tax and GST from imports from U.S. Lucky I can buy most from Canada. I should have started to collect in about 85 or so. At that time I knew little to nothing on Sherman, no info and no books either. I never thought I would become a collector of Sherman, and may have laughed had anyone told me the future !~

Now that you have so much Sherman, and look for it, you might want to buy Sandra Caldwell's book. Unfortunately there are beautiful pics but not as much info as I would have wanted. The hardcover book goes for about 30 dollars from several sources. I have 2 copies signed and bought my sister one copy.

I would like to turn back the clock, just to get back the (literally) hundreds of pieces
I gave away or sold back in the day because I was broke. Sold a lot of lovely pieces one time to pay my Daughters orthodontist. One time I took over 100 pieces, and sold them to a woman working out of a swap meet shack. UGH! And I didn't know what I had either :(
I do remember some pieces were D & E, but at the time, i didn't know one piece from the other, just "old junk jewelry". C'est la vie! ( that's life)

      Hello Ms.CrystalShip,
You have an amazing brooch, it is truly, outrageously, gorgeous. Would you please post the back t00 - neophytes can learn so much that way.The front is beautiful but the back can solve so many mysteries.

      Thank you!
      Gillian /; >) (it's a beret)

    25. Ms.CrystalShip Ms.CrystalShip, 2 years ago
That's terrible you have to pay prov tax and GST (?)
The only problem I have with buying from Canada is the shipping costs!
      Range from $8-$24
One consolation Phil, most Sherman pieces worth buying are in Canada.
The blue and clear set from California was a fluke...
I bought a Juliana musical figural that almost cost more to ship than to purchase from the UK, but had to have it. What cha gonna do? :)
    26. Ms.CrystalShip Ms.CrystalShip, 2 years ago
      Of course Gillian..
      Give me a few.
I didn't show the back because these colors are strictly Sherman.
But you are absolutely right, we are here to learn as well as admire :)
