I love collecting old things and being a US Army Signal Corp veteran this caught my attention scrolling through Facebook Marketplace. This is my first vintage phone and I had some trouble finding information about it. I originally thought the dial was missing but as I looked closer it looked as though there was blank where the dial should have been. I looked around and found the dial was optional on this phone so it was obviously order special for a specific location but the lady I bought it from got it from an auction and had no background on it. If anyone knows more about this phone I would love to hear it.

Extremely late answer, but AE dials was often used on these.
