My sister from Richmond, VA (tobacco capital of the USA) called me last month "I found 8 wood cigar boxes for $3 each." But, even after talking with USPS to give her a basic rate of $24.....her cost for 5 cigar boxes cost $35 to ship from Richmond to Long Beach......oh boy, there are still 3 more. Luckily I"m visiting her next month.
The boxes smell wonderful inside! I used Howard's orange/beeswax wood conditioner and they all shined up gorgeous! Altho I am not a smoker, CA is a legal state (ha!).....I think one of these would make a very cool present to a favorite guy's man cave. Put in some special tobacco, girly playing cards, a few cigars, some other guy-type stuff - match box cars, love letters from a bunny???....Wah La!
And the last photo was taken at 6 am waiting for the airport shuttle. Pretty wonderful old bldg. I would love to live on the top floor, who cares about non-existent parking!

Tobacco shops often give cigar boxes away for free, especially if you buy something. I used to be a pipe smoker and scored many cigar boxes, just by asking for some when buying pipe tobacco. Some shops will even sell them for a $1 each. Love old buildings. My house was built in 1883.
Fine looking wood cigar boxes, must have orig held good quality cigars. Beautiful tall old building with great walk up staircase, love the early a.m. photo you can see sun rise on bldg
Rosewood I think, nonetheless a super find in the family, love these !~
Naww, PhilD -- rosewood is far too expensive/etc for cigar boxes, and the woodgrain is all wrong. Much more likely a mahogany variant. Agree that the last pic is a wonderful old building, beautifully photographed...what/where is it?
Beautiful old building. Is that in Long Beach?
kwqd - I did not realize tobacco shops would sell them for $1! I will keep that in mind. I have a lot of the balsa wood boxes w/graphics - which I love. Advertising graphics are favorites! I even bought some cigar labels recently just for the graphics....not sure what is wrong with me.....I love old bldgs too. My apt. bldg is 1924 or 26 (NOT this wonderful office bldg tho I am sure someone must live in it.)
Thanks Jenni - they are good for storing treasures together. Those are fire escapes on the bldg. It was a nice photo, I love the colors. XOXO
Thanks Phil - they are a gd. find - from 1997 which is sorta old :-)
Thanks AnythingObscure and Fort - I think these are fun cigar boxes. - mahagony? This is at the corner of Long Beach Blvd. and Broadway.
Hey #1 Mary, I love these, and the job that you did to clean them up! You're right, any man-cave, would love these too! I like your idea on what to put into them, and like to hear some of those love letters, oo-la-la! :^D If I had room for a man-cave, it wouldn't be my house . . . throw it on the pile! :^)
Thanks #1 Bill! It's easy to shine them up fast with the wood conditioner by Howards. Glad you enjoyed my guy-gift ideas and the love letters from my alter ego Bunnies :-) I'm not a smoker but I collect tobacciana because I love their old advertising graphics - and also in my price range. I love cosmetic and pharmacy graphics too, but right now that is more PC and so more expensive :-)
