This is a 3 inch wide dish. Looks like it used to have a lid. I am thinking it was for small jewelry like rings and earrings.
I am thinking this is older Vaseline glass from about the turn of the century. The color is much duller than the more recent Vaseline glass and it has a pattern with a bit of this and that. A bit less this and that than other Vaseline/EAPG pieces but more than depression glass and later pieces. As a casual (but getting less casual) collector of Vaseline glass it can be a challenge to ID the patterns. Depression glass is pretty easy as there is a handy site.
Once more note this is yellow and not green.
