This little hammer looking thing belonged to my father who passed away back in the 70's, It has no markings and i don't have a clue what it is exactly. Any ideas? It is 3 1/2" long and the head is the size of a quarter. The handle end is solid, no threads. It is made of steel.

It does look like a hammer! But I think not. With all those threads and a hex shaped handle I think some sort if adjusting mechanism. How big is it?

I’ve seen similar ones for removing dings and dents from sheet metal. Body work on cars for example.

Yes -- how big is it?? Also, is the hex-shaped end made of solid metal?? (or instead, perhaps, hollow/threaded similarly to the other end of the object??)

      Also what kind of metal?

I will offer my 2 cents.

A tuning hammer. Possibly for a tabala.

I thought it was a candle snuffer but I see the bottom is flat. Odd. Maybe some sort of blank seal.
