Barn find, old appears to be Antique Rocking Chair Unknown Style or mfg. Look as though it might have had a Cane Bottom??? No mfg.. marks that I noticed. Any help with ID of Style or Company would be appreciated. Or direction on where to find the answer !!!

Nice scroll work and details on the arms and details on the spindles. Is that mother of pearl inlay on the spindles?

Yes it is and a small inlay on the top.

Unfortunately someone ruined this piece with good intentions. In picture #2 you can see where 2 screws of such have been driven into the end grain of the arms. You never do that because end grain not only splits it won't ever hold a screw or nail under normal use. The arms are tenoned in and any additional fastening should have been a dowel peg from the side and only one.

Thanks fhrjr2, how old would you say it was?? Ashamed the used screws and not dowel pegs. Some handyman who wasn't really handy with wood... lol
