It's taken a few years! I recently found this perfect carved bakelite pin in the color I didn't have - bright orange. It matches my basket-weave bangle perfectly. Not quite a match to the 5 1950's Marblette spacers but close enough. Large 2.5" with embedded closure and deep carved trumpet flower w/leaves. Circa 1930's. Orange has been out of my price range. This cost $16 and I was happy to pay.

Very nice compliment to each other!
Thank you MrsT for your nice comment. I think this is my favorite bakelite brooch.
Love the orange color ! You have a nice collection of matching pieces :-)
Thank you Mani - I would mainly say "coordinating", but the colors here are a perfect match. When I wear them I will add other shades of orange. It's so exciting to find the right thing to add to the stash. :-)
Another great piece for your lovely collection!
Thanks Gudrun, I've been busy this month with back-to-school retail promotions, suddenly I saw this pin :-)
Congratulations on your beautiful find Mary, and amazing price for a classic bakelite piece - the bright orange is such a terrific color, and I love the trumpet flower design, makes me think of the hummingbirds that love them! All the bracelets look perfect with it, enjoy
Nice! With Autmn around the corner, this will be a wonderful match!!
Thomas.
Isn't it a great feeling when you find a good deal? It's beautiful!!
What Ken said...also it's so fulfilling to finally come across a piece you've been hoping for for so long! I'm so happy for you! Makes you feel all warm inside...
Beautiful piece of bakelite history or should I say MANY pieces :)
Congrates Mary!
Ooh! Mary, you deserved to find this perfect piece! After so long waiting, this is the perfect catch :-D
Yes, I know orange is special, I got caught up in a Sherman auction for an orange set.
Super find Mary !~
Jenni - so nice of you to comment about my orange crush pin :-)
Thomas - I plan to wear during my birth month OCTOBER of course ;-) Love the orange, thank you!
Ken - yes, I tried to get it cheaper even!
Eileen - thank you as always for getting my plastic obsession. I think I am done now....unless of course I find other amazing carved bakelite....which I am sure will happen. XOXO your friend, Mary
Kyra - thank you, I know that wait was worth it. Problem with that is, now I'm looking for the next elusive bakelite treasures :-)
Phil - in my bakelite world orange usually isn't collectible . People say "orange is hard to wear", well wear it with black, or grey or taupe or navy....LOL. Living in sunny California, I am attracted to orange! Thank you and I will look to see what you meant by the Sherman orange.
When my sis was here 2 years ago I tried to convince her to buy this incredible sweater in all the great colours and witches crocheted I believe ($35.00). We went back about 2 days later and it was gone. Hell she could have sold it for 150 I think no problem. I should have picked up the slack and bought it but we can't regress. I am glad you got this pin in its large size !~
Woohoo! Love this brooch, and so happy you found it!
Gorgeous color! Congrats on your find. :-)))
Phil - yes, sometimes it's hard to buy orange or convince someone that those colors are worth it :-)
Karen - thank you for your nice comment :-)

Malkey - thanks for loving this orange pin. I love hearing from you! All the best to you too. :-)
Beautiful Mary! Lovely color.
I really like this one!!! To me, it looks red, but I believe you that it's orange :)
Elizabeth - thank you for your nice comment....but Sharone, yes my pictures are not quite right - CRAP everyone is being so nice - these pictures look more red than juicy orange like they are :-)
