This 1 3-4" paddleboat brooch has a graphic design with clear, red & black rhinestones on goldtone. By Dorothy Bauer (founded 1981) ca 1980s. I have always wanted to take a trip on one of these former "showboats" down the Mississippi River.

Very nice brooch! I live within walking distance of the Mississippi river in an area where the big paddleboats stop by. They haul tourists from New Orleans to the Twin Cities in MN. Those paddleboats are huge! Cool to see.

Judy it would have been a wonderful way to travel, I can still picture Scarlett & Rhett on their New Orleans riverboat honeymoon, it looked so luxurious
That bell must have been great Eileen, like the one the captain rang in Show Boat! I used to love how Kathryn Grayson sang in that movie, if only I had her fabulous voice

Wow buckethead how cool that you love near the Mississippi and can see the tour paddleboats, my hubby and I sent away for info about taking one of those tours leaving from New Orleans (we live in the East Coast, would have to fly into NoLa to pick up the boat), they have shorter trips but the full river ride is rather costly, we may do the five day one in future tho it looks lovely. Enjoy your weekend as well, thank you!

Ditto Rose, this boat is really different, the paddlewheel in front is raised so in person it has a 3D quality which is pretty unusual in costume pieces. Thank you for the kind comment

I would love to sit on your lounge room floor and look at it all.
Karen, it would be great to go over my jewelry with you, maybe you can help me better organize it! I do spread pieces out to choose what to wear or post, but mostly I try to keep them sort of filed according to maker in their little jewel boxes (I always take that icky cotton out that puts fuzz on the jewelry, and wrap the pieces in tissue or bubble wrap), kept safe in clear small bags inside storage bins. This works for the famous makers, I just have trouble with the one offs, can never find 'em lol! Love your kind compliments, thanks so much
Mary now I am going to have to look for the Ozark season two show, maybe they will have it on my "on demand" cable channel - I love stuff about riverboats! Natch I would doubt the gamblers there like jewelry. My image of a riverboat gambler is Howard Keel in Show Boat, do any of the guys look like him lol. Appreciate your great comments
