I think that this is Mexican, but i am not absolutely certain. it's very old, wherever it's from. i found it today at a salvage store in Berkeley. it has a lot of character and i like it.

That really is a cool piece Pete, it was maybe a Carnival Prize, terra cotta clay, molded, fired, and unfinished, cheep, but still looks good! It could have a salt glaze, to shine, nice! :^)

I think Mexican, probably from the Puebla or Oaxaca area, circa the 1930s or early 40s. These are often called “portrait pitchers” and were made to serve pulque.
This is a pitcher, from Puebla City, from a place call, "Barrio de la Luz". Its a Pulque pitcher, I have 60 diferentes, glass, and pottery. This design come from France, from the factory of mayolica Sarreguemines. This is a Toby Face from France. Arrive to Mexico in 1864 with the emperor Maximiliano before 5 de mayo battle, the french army use for drink beer, but in Mexico, the people copy and use for drink pulque, the mexico national drink, juice from the maguey. In old tows today the old artisans make this pitcher in 2018....
I’m with Collieblack. In Australia we had versions of it too done by a series of Queensland potteries supplying water jugs to pubs.
