Came across this 1880's ? Leather 4 slat Barrel Top Trunk yesterday, measures 36" long x 20" deep x 28" tall. You can certainly tell a quality trunk when it comes to lifting it. It has 42 pieces die-cast trims plus the wheels and latches. Sessions hardware I would imagine, but they are slightly different in the pattern and shape than I am used to seeing for Sessions hardware. This one is a little different as well from most leather trunks I have seen, as it has the lid face being clad in metal and the base front bottom in metal which is normally leather. Also It has a completely opposite interior layout than all other trunks I own or any I have seen for that matter. Both original handles very sturdy. No maker label..( I was hoping). No maker on the lock either, just the patent date of 1879 and an eagle with a shield and branch logo as shown. Looks to be brass. Overall it was well cared for condition wise.
