WW1-1920s Hunter-Case Compass

Even as a kid I had wanted one of these Hunter-case-style (pocket watch) compasses. So when this came up on a local auction, I remembered those early thoughts and got this for a great deal.
I'm thinking it later WW1-1920s based off the style, though I think it civilian and not military-issued as it isn't marked.
Better still, you can use it to do your makeup (not me, of course) as the polished inner cover works like a focusing mirror! Hah hah!
It says, "Made in France" on the metal dial, which was made just like my 1919 time-clock.
